NEW Fall Collection from Studio McGee x Target Threshold

Every time there’s a new collection from Studio McGee’s collaboration with Target’s Threshold line*, I can’t wait to pore over every piece! It’s not always easy to find pieces that are budget-friendly, well-designed, and of decent quality. This line hits all three of those!

Now, I’m not saying these are heirloom pieces, but when you’re looking to mix in on-trend, affordable pieces of furniture and decor in with higher end ones, this is a really great place to look.

In addition to good ole aesthetics, what I like about this line is how well-proportioned the pieces are. Often, in budget-friendly furniture “land,” the scale is all wrong - usually in a too-small-to-be-functional way. These pieces are thoughtfully designed to be able to meet the functional needs of modern homes…at a really good price.

The style is signature Studio McGee - classic meets modern coastal (right up my alley!) - and they weren’t afraid to take some design risks like adding mustard contrast piping to a cube ottoman, using navy on the interior of a cabinet, or offering an olive green velvet as an upholstery option for a chair. Take a spin through and you’ll see what I mean!

When I go through the new collections, I like to star my favorites on my Target.com account to keep track of them for later. I’m pulling back the curtain on my “must have” list today and sharing my top 24 pieces with y’all! You’ll see two groups: furniture, and then lighting and decor.

Catch them below!

  • Tall black storage cabinet: this cabinet was released in a previous collection, but just in cream (Target loves to do that with their bestsellers). The black is fabulous! I love the sophisticated look and those sliding doors are great if you’re tight on space.

  • Tufted wingback chair (camel): another new color for a previously released chair. This chair is a good dupe for several high-end chairs like the Perry from Maiden Home. This is a great way to get the look for less.

  • Oval 2-drawer nightstand: I’ve already proposed this one for a bedroom e-design project! These offer great storage in a unique, but streamlined silhouette. They’re a nice height too at 24”.

  • Burlwood waterfall console table: part of a larger burlwood collection, this console table is a great statement piece for an entryway or on a wall in a larger living room. Add a lamp, a couple of books, a decorative object, and a plant, and you’ve got it styled!

  • Plaid square ottoman: they just keep adding new fabrics to this line of square ottomans! We have two from the original line and they’re still going strong. This time around they included this pretty plaid and a neutral one with yellow piping (would be great in a kid’s room).

  • Black console table: I love the tapered legs on this one. It feels classically shaker, but in an updated, modern way. Would work in SO many home styles.

  • Round black side table: this is from the same collection as the black console table! I had to include it though - it’s a great size and again, it goes just about anywhere.

  • Velvet fully upholstered armchair: fully upholstered chairs (yes, legs and all!) are having a moment, and I’m here for it. This comes in a pretty olive green as well, and has a matching ottoman as seen next to it. Use a pair in a living room or one in a reading corner in a bedroom for a relaxing, yet sophisticated spot to sit.

  • Tall wood storage cabinet: a unique twist on a fairly simple silhouette, this cabinet is NAVY on the inside! It looks much more expensive than it is, and reminds me of this one from Crate & Barrel that’s almost 3x the price!

  • Black two drawer side table: another well-proportioned accent piece! Don’t miss the fluted drawer fronts - it’s a great detail. It would work equally well as a living room side table or a nightstand.

  • Fluted column console table: this is a statement piece for sure! I have the side table version of this, and I like it reimagined as a console table. It has some nice presence to it, so if you have a larger spot to fill, give this piece a try.

Studio McGee x Target - New Lighting and Decor

  • Large storage trunk: it’s hard to beat a big ole basket for storage, especially one that has a lid if you’re trying to conceal things like toys, shoes, or other less-than-pretty items. This one measures 38” wide, so it’s a great size.

  • White two-light table lamp: high style on an $90 budget! This is one of those pieces where the scale is SO good and with two bulbs, it’ll offer plenty of light! The pull chain detail makes it look high end, as does the texture on the base.

  • Neutral stripe pillow: this is a case where neutral is anything but boring! The texture and layers of tan, beige, and brown make for one pretty pillow. They’re big at 24”, so you’ll want to make sure the spot you’re putting it can accommodate a larger pillow. Use it as the “base” for a trio of pillows on the sofa.

  • Wavy ceramic bowl: this cute little accent piece is perfect for styling a shelf (place it on top of a stack of coffee table books) or on a console for little items like your keys. It’s about 8.5” in diameter, so it makes for a good drop zone item that looks pretty too.

  • Persian style rug: when I first saw this, I admit it felt a little too brown to me, but looking at the styled photos, it definitely grew on me. I think the pattern is gorgeous, and it’s neutral enough to fit naturally into many spots of your home.

  • Tan trophy vase: another great styling piece for your bookshelf or tabletop. It comes in two sizes - small and large - so take a look at the measurements to see which one would work best.

  • Brass plug-in sconce: it’s two little details that made me click the “favorite” button on this wall lamp: the little ball detail at the top of the shade and the fabric cord. They give this piece a much higher end look than the price would indicate! They’d make perfect bedside sconces.

  • Ombre pillow: this is classy ombre, my friends. The shade gradient is so pretty going from brown to ivory. Like the other pillow I shared, this one is oversized at 24”x24”, so just be aware as you think about where you’re going to put it!

  • Dark woven basket: I loved the curves on this one - it just gives it a tiny bit more visual interest than your average basket. The tone is really lovely too and is a nice change from the lighter ones you commonly see.

  • Modern line art (set of 2): this pair of smaller scale art pieces (16”x20” each) add a nice modern element to some of the more transitional style pieces in the collection. Art is a great way to mix in a different style than you might choose for your furniture and these are a super affordable way to do it.

  • Ceramic link bowl: if you love a handmade, unique ceramic piece, but the usual price tags make you gulp, give this one a try! It would make for an eye-catching styling piece on a surface or you could even use it as a shallow fruit bowl in your kitchen.

  • Double head floor lamp: let me tell you - it’s hard to find a pretty floor lamp with taper shades that has TWO bulbs so I was thrilled to see this one. This classy piece comes in both brass and black, and I love both for different spaces. I’ve already put this one into a client design!

That wraps up my list! As usual, pieces tend to sell fast in these collections, BUT they will restock. Just sign up to be notified about it!

Now tell me - do you have a favorite from this roundup? Any pieces you’re planning to snatch up?
