Large End Tables Under $500 {A Roundup}

Sometimes it seems like you’re searching for a needle in a haystack when it comes to finding furniture for your home, doesn’t it? You might be able to picture what you want in your head, but for some reason, your search comes up empty. Large end tables at an affordable price point seem to be one of those tough-to-source pieces unless you’re ready to pay a pretty penny!

Big side tables come in handy though and I find that I often need at least one large one when I’m designing a living room. I often use them next to sofas and sectionals, or in the “corner” between a sofa and chairs where it’s important to have something that’s larger in scale.

There are a gazillion small end tables out there, but larger piece of furniture or larger spaces between furniture call for an oversized end table. This is especially true if your sofa falls into the more oversized or extra deep category. If your room can accommodate it, go big!

Here are a couple of examples of what a large end table does for a living room:

See how well it works to have a large end table here in this Studio McGee living room? Since it’s between two large piece of furniture, it really needs something that’s on the bigger side. It doesn’t necessarily need to be this tall, but the height is nice too!

I love the scale of this end table. It’s just the right height and size to be functional next to the white sofa in that coastal living room. These two examples just happen to have round tables, but square also works well!

At this point you may be wondering what qualifies as a “large” end table. For the purposes of this post, I’m talking about square or round tables that are 24” or larger. This size offers enough heft to be proportional to the furniture that’s next to it and it also allows for enough surface space for a good sized lamp and decor. Height-wise, you want it to be +/- a few of inches of the arm of the sofa/chair it’s next to as well.

In our family room, we needed a large one to go between the chairs and sofa, and I found this one that fit the bill pretty nicely! I almost wish it was a tad bigger, but it definitely works!

Since I’m always on the hunt for these, I have to say that this roundup is a little self-serving. 😉 I’m glad to have this list in the back of my mind for the next time I need an oversized end table! I tried to keep these as affordable as possible while balancing quality and style. Almost all of them are under $500 (and all are under $600!). Let’s take a look - you’ll find the links to all of them next!
